Sunday afternoon I suggested to Ellie that we watch her Gotcha Video. This is the video that our dear friend Rossy made (she came with me to China and I can never thank her enough) of our China travels.
In this video is our Gotcha moment. The moment that Ellie was handed to me and we became a family. We watch it every now and again, but with Sagan coming I wanted to watch it so that Ellie would have the attention.
Well the video is playing while we are eating dinner and a flood of memories are filling my mind. Ellie's screetch of laughter (I called her Godzilla if that helps understand how loud it was), she loved playing with her bare feet, eating Hershey's chocolate bar (thanks Rossy) and other memories.
While we were watching it there is music playing in key moments like the Gotcha moment. If you know Sarah McLaughlin's, Angel then you know that each time I watch it tears pour down my face.
So as we were eating dinner, I am drinking some wine, there is a part where Ellie is lying on my tummy early in the morning in China. She is enjoying me rubbing my fingers along her back. She is smiling and lying perfectly still. She looks up at me and smiles then places her head back on my chest. It was a sweet momement because I have only been her mommy for perhaps 4-5 days and she was already bonded.
So I lean over to give Ellie a kiss and tell her I love her and I completely MELT DOWN. Tears pouring down my face and Ellie is smiling at me. "Too much wine, Mommy?
Now I am laughing. How funny my sweet girl is!
