More Medical Appointments

Ellie and Sagan are keeping us busy with medical appointments. Ellie suffered from her 8th febrile seizure on December 21. With this last seizure her neurologist, Dr. Dahan, requests that Ellie have another EEG. The last EEG was when Ellie was just turning 3 and she cried all through it. Now I know that she will be just fine. Dr. Dahan's technician is great. Ellie will be sleep deprived and sleep for 50% of the session.

What are they looking for?

The last seizure brought out some focal issues. Her right hand was curved and stiff. She stayed in her post seizure daze too long. Worried now.

If Ellie needs to be put on medication for the next year then so be it. The goal is to keep her seizures contained if they happen. The medication will help the "focal" issues.

Sagan is having an MRI. Dr. Dahan and Dr. El-Said want to see the area where Sagan had surgery in August. To see what is there. Baseline data for any future issues. Because of her young age they will have put her in twilight sleep to keep her still while the MRI. This is the part that I hate. I have to help anethestise (Sp) her. I apply the gas mask and then they take her from me.
