Sagan's Final Homestudy: Home 6 Months

Sagan will officially be home 6 months Saturday (6/14) and we are celebrating by having our final homestudy with our social worker in the morning.

Once we complete this final homestudy and receive the paperwork we will adopt her. We have an appointment with our attorney in Maitland in early July to begin this process. It should be easy.

What has it been like having Sagan home?

We have learned that our children are VASTLY different. Here are our observations:

Ellie is quiet and Sagan is not

Ellie has had maybe 2 tantrums in her life while Sagan has them on the hour.

Ellie could/can sit still for long periods of time while Sagan has a 3 second attention span.

Ellie knew how to use a napkin at 18 months while Sagan revels in her messy dinner.

We are not comparing children and yet, we do. One cannot help it. They are so different.

Sagan has made our life so different. When we had Ellie we would take her everywhere. She could eat at any restaurant and you would not know she was there. Sagan screams the house down when you do not allow her to play with the knife or take her drink away because she has learned to pull the straw from the cup.

We have learned that Sagan has INCREDIBLY SELECTIVE HEARING. We worried that she was deaf at one point. We would repeatedly say her name, "Sagan, Sagan, Sagan, (Each time getting louder)." Then we would stare at each other and worry. Then Fred would say, "Cookie?," and Sagan would repeat, "Um num num, Cookie." She would run like the wind to the pantry. No, not deaf. Just ignoring us.

One final thing, we feel that Sagan is an "old soul." When we talk to her she has such understanding in her eyes. My medium says that she is an old soul therefore confiming our suspicion. She is a smarty who loves to explore and climb. Oh, how she loves to climb.

We look forward to her next six months and beyond. Her second birthday is just 6 months away. We are already anticipating it and hope to have a wonderful birthday party for her.
