Morning all..
Last night at about 8:30pm I received a call from the grandmother, Ellie, whom I blogged about earlier last week (see Dark Days). She called and we talked for 2.5 hours. We just talked about the kids and whatnot. It was strange and wonderful.
She told me about two families that came to their house to meet the children. One family was not even married. They were getting married in a few months. No kids. The family they met on Sunday was married, pharmacists with a 7 year old daughter. They went to Monkey Joes and lunch. They had a good day, but something struck Ellie in the wrong way. She does not know.
While we spoke she mentioned once again that our house was too small. I agreed. I also mentioned that moving to Seattle in the next couple of years was a distinct possibility. I also explained that we are not "religious" but we are spiritual. We are good people. That's all. She wants more religion in their lives. We would not be able to provide that.
She told me that the pastor at the church recommended us highly and that she cannot wait to see us this Saturday. We have met before just not the children. Ellie and Sagan will be meeting the family for the first time. Fred and I will be meeting California and Ian for the first time as well.
Again, I am not pursuing adoption. I do not think it would work out. We cannot provide the religious aspect of their lives that Ellie wants for them. But the more she and I talk (it is so comfortable and easy to talk with her) the more I can say she is "picking" us in a way.
Interesting and strange.
