Today was very special. At the FLVS conference banquet I was the recipient of the FLVS Ambassador of the Year award.
I did not know I was going to be given this award. I only know that my administrator insisted that I dress up and come to the banquet. This is my third FLVS conference but the first time I attended the dinner. I know why she insisted.
In front of 800 teachers and staff members about 10 awards were given out. Teacher of the Year, Support Person of the Year. The second to the last was: MVP: Most Valuable PAL (public affairs liaison) of the Year.
I volunteer alot in the community projects. I go out and talk to groups and promote FLVS. I attend all conferences for FLVS and help people learn more about FLVS. When they were talking about the recipent I was barely listening. She does this, she does that, she is always looking to help, and she even delivered pencils to high schools on her maternity leave! My mind went DING DING DING. Umm....that was me!
Mary annoucned my name and I remember looking at the stage saying. They did not just say my name. Rossy, my friend and colleague, beamed at me and said GO! I stood, thanking goodness that I was dress to the nines because I was now an awards recipient! I went to the stage and hugged the PAL team, then shook hands with Julie Young the FLVS president and then shook hands with the board members. A photographer took photos of me as I exited the state.
What I liked most. Was my friends and colleagues congratulating me as I made my way to my seat. All of their smiles.
It was a good night. : )
