Happy Thanksgiving: Thankful...

We are most thankful for all of our family and friends this Thanksgiving holiday.

One particular family is the Durney's. We have been friends for 4 years and we are quite close. They are moving away for three years to take excellent jobs at Universal Studio's Singapore. We will miss seeing them, but know that blogs, webcams, and other technologies will breach that distance.

My favorite story of the Durney's is a wonderful story to share. It was when Fred, Ellie and I met Sean for the very first time.

We had just come home with Ellie and one of our favorite things was to have breakfast at Einstein Bagel. We were seated and enjoying our morning meal when I noticed a man staring at my 12 month old daughter.

Now freshly home from China and on a HUGE ESTROGEN SURGE of motherly hormones I immediately get my back up. He is staring at her while paying for his breakfast (now I know it was likely Judy's breakfast as Sean does not care for breakfast). He keeps turning and taking long stares at our baby. What I supposed he was thinking was "They have an adopted kid .. (Insert bad things here)" So I am all uptight!

I turn to Fred and say, "If he keeps staring at Ellie I am going to punch him." Believe me I would have. I have superhuman MOMMY strength!

So Sean turns and comes to our table. I brace myself for an onslaught of adoption comments from this STARING man! As kneels down and looks at Ellie I am preparing to SPRING TO ATTACK!

He speaks, "She is beautiful. My wife and I are having trouble....we are thinking about adoption." That was it. A friendship was born.

(I am crying again Judy. Sorry!)

We love you and will pick you all up at the airport when you come back home. Never doubt it.

This morning Ellie and I went on Snapfish and created a Collage Poster (20x30) for Kylies bedroom wall in Singapore. So she will be able to see her friends, The Zanegood's, and know even though we are many thousands of miles away we love her.
