Fred and I met on a blind date in January 1992. I worked at the Disney Store in Plantation and one of the managers, Bob, came up to me and asked if I was open to being set up on a blind date. I said, "Yes," and it changed my life forever.
It was not love at first sight for me. I was too young, just 21 years old, and very green. I had not dated seriously and not any boys were really interested in me. Lucky for Fred. It was the right time/the right place.
When I first saw Fred I was taken aback by a really bad blue plaid shirt. It's a joke to this day between the two of us. I look beautiful, his words, with my long blonde hair and black mini skirt. We had dinner with a group of my friends and had good conversation. I traveled to Boston a few days later and when I came back Fred and I met for dinner at Chilis. We dated a few more times and emotions grew deeper. He told me he loved me first and by total accident. We were at the Galleria Mall in Ft. Lauderdale and he was retelling a story to me when he said, " ...... this is the woman I love!" Whoops. :) He loves me.
Engaged 11 weeks after we met, married 2 years after we met, we are vested in a 14 year marriage and a 16 year relationship.
It's really good. We both work from home so we are in each others pockets. We are each others best friend and we make each other laugh terribly.
One of my closest friends is still looking for Mr. Right. I offer advice, too much I think, and hope that she can find her "one." I never thought I would have married so young. Fred was not the person I "thought" I was looking for. He was not the person who I thought I would have fallen for. There is a line from a movie that sums this up,
"You are everything, I never knew, I always wanted."
How lucky am I? Happy Anniversary (albeit a day early) Bunk.
You complete me.
These are two of our professional engagement photographs from 1994.
