Meet George ... .Ellie's Pet Lobster!

Meet George. Ellie's favorite pet.

George is a lobster Ellie has had since she was 2. This is a cute story.

When we would take Ellie to Publix she would ask to see the lobsters in the tank. She would ask why there are in the tank and we would delicately explain that this was a sort of "pet store." Just like she was adopted these lobsters needed good homes.

Yes, it is a lie but she was just 2!

Ellie wanted a lobster for a pet. Desperately! When Fred would go on a business trip he would ask her what she wanted as a present when he returned. She would ALWAYS ask for a pet lobster. It was funny.

We would ask her just where we would keep a pet lobster? She had clear ideas even at 2 years old.

At night George, she named all her stuffed friends George for long time, would stay in her bathtub. It was safe and he would be able to move around. During the day, George could sit in the kiddie pool in the backyard 1/2 in the shade 1/2 in the sun so he could exercise. This is when we thought she was brilliant. What child wants a lobster?

I taught gifted kids for so long they would have very quirky things to say like, "I will be getting a pet lobster for my birthday." Yes, this is our kid.

So hence we have George in our lives. If she could take him everywhere she went, she would.

At night she puts George at the foot of her bed and covers him with his own little blanket. Uma tends not to like George all that much so she hangs out at the top of the bed with Ellie.

Props to Grandpa for finding George in a catalog somewhere. I would never have thought they made stuffed animal lobsters.
