Getting Ellie Ready for Kindergarten

Ellie will be a Bay Meadows Koala!

Ellie will be 5 next month and you know what that means? It means that Kindergarten is just around the next corner. She is more than ready. She reads, writes, adds, subtracts, sequences, and knows how to share. More than ready!

Ellie will attend a great elementary school here in Orlando. It is where I used to teach for 8 years. I love everyone there and how it is a big family affair. We are not zoned for this school but with a special medical transfer request we got Ellie in.

Now the fun begins. I have been communicating by email with the principal and guidance counselor regarding Ellie's seizure condition. I am hoping that they will place Ellie with a certain Kindergarten teacher who I would trust not to go completely insane if Ellie has seizure in school. I know they are going to treat me like any other parent (since I no longer teach there) and say that I am not allowed to pick my daughters teacher. If I were still a teacher there, I could. So I am trying to be as positive as I can and explain the situation. I honestly feel that Ellie would be better off with a mature teacher who can take care of Ellie quickly and not start screaming (as I did the first time I saw Ellie have an episode).

We needed to schedule a meeting with the guidance counselor and the principal to discuss this. Oh Joy!

Please cross your fingers that Ellie gets placed with the best teacher for her condition.
