As you well know Ellie plays violin. I am very happy with her progress and everything but I know she needs more. Our first instructor is good, but I really want her to blossom and grow. Therefore, we have made a decision to move her from private instruction to the Suzuki Institute of Maitland.
I just spoke with her new violin instructor and I must tell you that I am very excited. This is far beyond what I ever expected. She is 70 years old, dynamic and has taught for years. Here is her bio as posted on the web site.
SVETLANA GUBNITSKAYA, Violin, Viola
State Conservatory of Music, Novosibirsk, Russia, M.M.,Violin,
String Quartet Violist, Theorist and Historian
State Conservatory of Music, St. Petersburg, Russia, Ph.D.
Dean of Music, Institute of Art & Culture, Chelyabinsk, Russia
Suzuki Training, Stevens Point, WI; Greenville, SC; Bristol
I thought with all of the wonderful things I was hearing she will learn at the institute we were prepared to mortgage the house! Amazingly enough it is wonderfully affordable. As a part of the fees Ellie will get a 30 minute private lesson with her teacher Ms. Gubnitskaya and then a 30 minute group lesson.
Our goal for Ellie will be to get her to be comfortable performing in front of others. We are told the group lesson focuses on that.
