Almost a Year Home! SaySay is Settled In.

At about 11:30am on December 5, 2007 we received a call from our adoption agency with the wonderful news that Sagan is ticketed for a flight home to Orlando!

I don't need to tell you that I am not the most patient person when it came to bringing her home. My fear was that Korea reached thier quota of adoption flights and we would not see Sagan until January or early February. We had her in our hearts but my arms is where I needed her.

When the call came in I was not prepared, though, Shelby (close family friend) said she had a hunch/feeling/premonition that the call would come on December 6. Well, it did because it was almost December 6 in South Korea!

So the call came in, it was not Maryanne (our social worker), as I had hoped so in my mind it was not "the call" but it really WAS! Sarah called and said, "I would like to tell you the flight information for Mi-Hyeon!" Well I know I was pacing and my hand was to my chest. That's about all I can remember about the call. I called Fred immediately but his cell wasn't on. The next call went to the Hollyman's and then my sister in law. It was a flurry of calls to announce SaySay would be home before Hanukkah ended!! It was too much to take in!

She would come into Orlando International at 10:30PM on Friday, December 14. We had 9 days to wait (there is ALWAYS some type of wait!!!). We really needed to prepare ourselves, Ellie, and our home. She was coming home!!

In my heart I ached for her foster mother in Korea who would have to say goodbye to her in a weeks time. Rarely does a foster mother keep an orphan more then 5-6 months in Korea, but because Sagan had surgery at 7 months she was not healthy enough to leave the country. This wonderful, grandmotherly figure loved and cared for Sagan for a year. She sent with Sagan over 100 photographs, a letter, a formal portrait of the two of them, sonogram photos, and toys. I make it a point to send photos and a letter every 3 months to the Holt Agency in Korea to show her the big girl that Sagan has become.
