An Oubliette is a dungeon with only one way out typically a door far, far, far above the floor so those who are dropped in may never escape. I am going to the DMV today. A stunning parallel if I do say so myself.
Why am I willingly going to seek out this torture? My drivers license expires on June1.
I have never gotten a ticket (touch wood)
I have gotten pulled over for an expired tag BUT I did not know that when Fred handed me the letter from the DMV all those years ago that the tag/registration came together. So when the police office asked me for my license and registration I handed him a close envelope from the Departmetn of Motor Vehicles. The registration was stapled to the new tag. The officer was kind enough to apply the sticker to my license plate and send me on my way.
I have not had to physically go to the DMV to renew since I was 18. The most distressing thought is that my photo will have to change. No more 80's layered hair and wrinkle free smile. Now the truth will be told. Lines under my eyes and laugh lines.
The only good thing is that I am having a great hair day. Lots of leave in conditioner and frizz control product.
Wish me luck. My appointment is for 8am.
