Why I Love My Husband: Part II.

Just a couple more memories that I wanted to share.

When did we get engaged?

Amazingly enough we got engaged about 11 weeks after we met. We talked about getting married and it was just about settled. I really wanted this diamond ring and my mom pulled Fred aside one day at my parents house. "This one," my mother said. Fred was stunned. "Uh, ok." was all that he could get out. A done deal.

How did Fred propose?

My father and I had tickets to a Yankees vs. Mets exposition game at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami. Fred went to work that day. It was a Saturday. At the bottom of the 5th inning an airplane towing an airplane banner overhead. "Jeanne will you marry me love, Bunk." I remember having the wind knocked out of me. The people around me saw me freaking out and understood that I was Jeanne. It was great. We have photos.

He actually never said the words. To this day he never ASKED me to marry him. I know it cost him 300.00 in 1992 to arrange the airplane banner. I would have been happy with a fancy dinner and him getting down on one knee. Alas, it was done.

What about the wedding?

The wedding was held at 1pm on December 11, 1994. We got married at the Rolling Hills Golf Resort in Davie, Florida. I remember everything. I remember getting dressed, seeing my family and friends arrive, and then seeing Pauline my lovely sister in law. She looked so beautiful. Me as a snow beast and there is my dainty, georgous sister in law in a curvy black dress. I love her to death, but for a moment I wanted to throw my bouquet at her!

My favorite event at the wedding that happened in the service. It was a traditional Jewish wedding under a huppah. Fred is putting the ring on my finger it would not go past my knuckle. I whispered to him, "Push." I know he did not want to hurt me. The rabbi heard me whisper to Fred and announced to the entire room..."It's true... she is already telling him what to do." Everyone burst out laughing.
